Chief prosecutor of the department and Phoenix's old friend. Appears in AA6-5 and serves as the prosecutor of AA6-DLC.

Personality: Edgeworth remains as Edgeworth-y as ever: wry, determined to uncover the truth, and not nearly as unflappable as he'd like to pretend. Resolving Blackquill's case seems to have lifted something of a weight from his shoulders.

Misc Facts: Edgeworth still seems to be working with Gumshoe.

Name Origin:
English: "Edgeworth" probably comes from his Japanese name Mitsurugi, as in, "edge of a sword."

Japanese: "Mitsurugi," which contains the kanji for "sword," is a reference to his sharpness of mind, (and also the samurai-like imagery it evokes). The creator says on the Japanese main site that he wanted to convey a feeling of "stillness, which can cut you down if you show a moment's weakness." The name "Reiji" comes from the kanji for "cleverness."

Background: After Blackquill's name was cleared the previous year, Edgeworth took it upon himself to reform the prosecutor's office from the inside out, starting with a purge of corrupt and underperforming prosecutors. While that's good news for justice, it also means the place is badly understaffed, and he certainly didn't object when Nahyuta decided to take on some cases.
