Gyakuten Saiban PC |
||
| Though the PC versions of the original GBA games (1 through 3) have been out for a while, Capcom is promoting them over again with an episodic download release in Japan, starting March 18th. Right now they don't seem to have any intention of offering this in the states. They've also offered a very basic case editor that you can play around with online, but it's little more than gimmick. Still, if you want to check it out, take a look at this thread by JapaneseGIRL to learn how to sign up. | ||

New Gyakuten Not Saiban/ Gyakuten Kenji / Turnabout Prosecutor |
||
|
In recent
blog entries
published alongside announcements of the GS Live orchestral concert,
references were made to the new project "New Gyakuten Not Saiban"
being produced by Capcom's Motohide Eshiro. Turnabout Prosecutor, staring Miles Edgeworth and
Dick Gumshoe in a point and click adventure where they investigate crime
scenes and interrogate suspects. What exactly that will entail
hasn't been fleshed out entirely, but the article does indicate that it
takes place after the third game, with Edgeworth and Gumshoe still
working together. At the moment they're saying there will not be a
court phase. Some sources are already referring to the localized name as "Perfect Prosecutor" but there's no telling if that's an official name, or if we'll even see the game this side of the Pacific. Thanks to JapaneseGIRL for these scans You can see some of the art over at the official Japanese site. There are now some Screenshots up now, and art of a new mystery girl, with promises that more will be revealed about her in the next issue of Nintendo Dream magazine. Gyakuten Saiban 4 / Apollo Justice |
||
|
GS4 is now confirmed to see release in the US, Great Britain, France, and Germany, under the name Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, and will come out in the US February 19th 2008 (as of right now the date for Europe is May 9th). You can view the official English trailer in the videos section, though it's relatively unchanged from the one released last year. The fourth game is the first in the series that does not feature Phoenix Wright as protagonist. Instead it stars Apollo Justice, a young new Defense Attorney, and his sidekick Trucy. Taking place 7 years after T&T the cast is mostly new, but there are several familiar faces and a few brief cameos. In terms of gameplay, several new features have been added in place of the Psyche-Locks. During investigation phases Apollo can check for fingerprints like in case 5 of PW:AA, but there are several other interactive investigation methods as well (such as investigating footprints, spraying for substances, and others). In court, Apollo is able to use the Perceive System, which allows him to zoom in on a witness to pick up on their nervous ticks that indicate they're lying. GS4 is four cases long, and closest to GS1's level of difficulty and length. It marks the beginning of what might be a full trilogy for Apollo, as Capcom's president has voiced his intention to green light GS5. Released with GS4 was the GS4 Limited Edition box set, which included the Gyakuten Saiban Encyclopedia (a separate, interactive cart featuring articles on all the characters, evidence, and cases in the game), a DVD of GS promotional movies and trailers, and a set of "Odoroki Head Phones." You can still find copies on Ebay but be prepared to pay over $100 for it. (In case you're wondering, I've scoured the Encyclopedia myself, and I haven't found any graphic or information in it that isn't already up here on CR). You can play a short demo of the first case over at Capcom's site, or else a mirror here on CR!
