Age: 31
Gender: Male

Occupation: Secretariot to Colias

Victim of GK case 5

Personality: We never meet Manny directly, but according to Colias he was a powerful and very capable man, who did a better job of running the Babahl embassy than Colias himself.

Misc Facts: ??

Friends and Family: Works closely with Colias.

Name Origin:
English
: Same as Japanese

Japanese: Maybe comes from "money."  Coachen may come from cochin, a type of rooster.

Background: Manny Coachen began as the secretary to the Cohdopian ambassador 10 years ago, but when the country split in two he came to work for the Babahlese ambassador, Colias.

Spoiler: AAI-5
The reason for this was because Manny was trying to get power over Quercus Alba, his real boss.  For years Manny worked under Quercus as part of his criminal syndicate, and even went so far as to murder Cece Yew when she was about to reveal their secrets.  He was arrested for the murder but saved when Ernest Amano sent one of his agents to steal the most incriminating evidence.

When Cohdopia split, Manny ended up working for Colias Palaeno instead of Quercus himself.  Because Colias was something of a pushover Manny was able to manipulate most of the goings on , and was also able to exploit their supplies of Babahlese ink and the embassy printing press in his forgeries.  He did so well that he eventually started harboring thoughts of taking over Quercus's operation.  By helping Colias into the top position at the embassy he was really securing himself as the puppet master.  In order to make that happen he hired Mask DeMasque to steal an artifact from Quercus that would give Babahl prominence and secure Colias's position, but Quercus caught onto him and struck first.

Japanese: Possibly a reference to the son of the devil in The Omen. His last name comes from the word for "butterfly keeper."

Background:

Spoiler: AAI-5
Allebahst and Babahl each house a statue they claim to be an important imperial symbol, but in reality Colias has known all along that his is really a fake.  He kept up the mystery in order to prevent Babahl from losing face to Allebahst, but when the country seemed to be getting back together he knew the truth would be revealed.  He confessed his fears to Manny, who assured him that he would find a way to make Colias named the new Cohdopian Ambassador.  Colias never suspected that Manny was secretly part of Quercus's crime ring, or what he planned to do to make Colias's wishes come true.

Whether Colias believed that Manny was guilty for the murder of Cece Yew, we don't know.

Quercus Alba / Carnage Onred

Occupation: Ambassador to Allebahst

Witness of GK case 5

Just kidding.  Quercus is really a cold and calculating criminal mastermind who never admits defeat and thinks of human lives as simple pawns in his game.

Misc Facts:  He used to be a general.

Background:

Spoiler: AAI-5
Quercus is actually the head of a massive criminal organization that spans several countries and employees agents all over the world, from simple pawns to prosecutors.  His diplomatic immunity as a foreign ambassador shielded him from the laws of the countries he was exploiting, especially in the case of Zheng Fa--its economy was ravaged by the importation of Quercus's counterfeit bills.  Every time Quercus wanted to send orders to one of his agents he wrote them on the back of a black card with his symbol, a three-legged raven.

10 years ago Cece Yew, an employee of the Amano Group, went to the police with incriminating evidence against the embassy, and he ordered Manny Coachen to kill her.  He did, but was soon after captured by the police.  Manny was spared a conviction thanks to the efforts of Ernest Amano, who had one of his men steal the important evidence.  In the wake of the trial Quercus sent in one of his agents, Calisto Yew, to pose as Cece's mourning sister and keep an eye on the related parties.

After that the prosecutor and detective he screwed over (Byrne and Badd) became even more dangerous, as they formed Yatagarasu, a group that was determined to expose Quercus and his organization.  Thankfully Calisto was able to position herself within the group.  Quercus allowed them to function all the while trusting Calisto to keep them from reaching their ultimate goal.  However, three years later Byrne overstepped by breaking into the embassy itself, and in retaliation Quercus ordered that Calisto take him out.  She did so, but it wasn't enough to stop Yatagarasu from catching its prey in the end...
